Talk Like a Pirate

International Talk Like A Pirate Day brings fun for the whole family to Jantzen Beach on September 20th and 21st.  See and tour Portland’s very own Tall Ship Royaliste full of Pirates.  It’s all part of charity fundraiser Set Sail For A Cause sponsored by the Oregon Women’s Sailing Association in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Watch for Tall Ship Royaliste as she makes her way up the river and into Portland on International Talk Like A Pirate Day, Friday, September 19th.  She will be joined by historic fencing school Academia Duellatoria as she docks behind the Jantzen Beach Red Lion Hotel for Festivities on Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00pm and Sunday from 11:00am to 3:00pm.

Tour Tall ship Royaliste, learn about the pirate life, hear sea shanties, visit Calypso the parrot, see sword fights on the ship and hear the cannons boom across the water at the Pirate Market Faire.  There will be a variety of family friendly fun activities.  See the sailing race on Saturday, join the fundraising banquet and auction on Saturday night, or join the sailing activities and learn about sailing with the Family Fun Sail on Sunday.

Entertainment, history and sailing education come to Jantzen Beach Red Lion Hotel.  Come join the fun and support Leukemia and Lymphoma research.

Academia Duellatoria, located in Portland, is a school dedicated to teaching “The Noble Art of Defense” as found in the surviving manuscripts of the fencing masters of Europe written between 1300 and 1700 A.D. – See more at:
