Sailing long distance or in challenging conditions and surviving a major life crisis like breast cancer share much in common. Both require study, patience, team work and a bit of luck. Emotions may even run a parallel course as anxiety, uncertainty, hope, and even joy swirl together as situations change. The comparisons abound. This is something our Sail for the Cure Ambassadors know well. Each has had to navigate through breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and the eventual return to good health.
While our Ambassadors have all shared the same “seas,” each woman’s voyages is unique. Their stories serve as powerful reminders of what’s at stake in our fight against this killer. That’s one reason our Ambassadors have stepped forward. They want to share what what they learned on their journeys, and help us raise funds so that others can receive the Breast Cancer education, prevention, treatment, support and research provided by the Oregon and SW Washington affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
Our Ambassadors are raising pledges to earn tickets to “Sail for the Cure.” That’s where you come in! Read our Sail for the Cure Ambassadors’ stories, and chose one, or chose all, and make your donation in her name by clicking on her corresponding button or mailing in a check.
Your money will be donated to the local Susan G. Komen for the Cure affiliate, and will help the Ambassador you’ve selected earn tickets to Sail for the Cure. When an Ambassador’s pledged donations reaches $250, she receives a VIP ticket to Sail for the Cure. When she raises $350, she receives 2 tickets, and it takes $500 to earn 4 tickets. Every dollar helps!
A special thank you to Alice, Edie, and “Janet” for sharing their stories.
